Photographing UNL's Collection

Image 01Feb 2011

In an attempt to put the Historic Costume Collection online, we began photographing the entire collection with a professional photographer and proper lighting. This process included writing descriptions, sizes and additional information to eventually showcase in an online collection database. Every other week there was a photographing session, and to make the most of our time, it was my duty to have 20-30 garments ready for photographing, which involved establishing which mannequin would go with each item, and what order they would be in so I could have the first 10 dressed. Session days were long and grueling with a lot of dressing and undressing followed by extreme organization to make sure everything went back to its original home and didn't lose any belts or collars in the process. This was a great experience for me and I can't wait to see the collection online.
